COPENHAGEN, March 15th, 2018: If you want to make a great game, you need great
story line. With that in mind, Hugo Games (OAX: HUGO) is pleased to announce
that it has signed an agreement with the owner of the IP for cartoon character
Tintin, Moulinsart, to create a mobile game based on the original stories,
characters and mysteries from the legendary Tintin albums created by Belgian
cartoonist Hergé.
This will be the first time a mobile game will be built on the contents of the
original Tintin books. The game will be a "Match 3" puzzle game for mobile
devices and the game is planned to launch in 2019.
Hugo Games' CEO Henrik Nielsen is proud to be chosen by Moulinsart to expand the
Tintin un iverse with a puzzle game.
"This is great news for Hugo Games and for gamers, because we will bring one of
the most beloved characters in comic history, the legendary Tintin, to mobile
devices," says Henrik Nielsen. "The key ingredients of a great game are a strong
story line and good characters, and you don't get them much better than in the
fantastic Tintin universe. Everybody around the world knows Tintin, as well as
the characters including Captain Haddock and Professor Tournesol (Professor
Calculus in English). We are very pleased to be able to work with the IP's of
Moulinsart."
The Tintin albums are among the most successful European comic books of the 20th
century and have been published in more than 70 languages with sales of more
than 200 million copies. Its hero is Tintin, a courageous young Belgian reporter
and adventurer. He is aided by his faithful dog Milou (Snowy in English) and
other classical characters such as Detectives Dupond and Dupont (Thomson and
Thompson in English) and the opera diva Bianca Castafiore.
In the comic books, Tintin and his friends travel around the world to solve
mysteries. The upcoming game will be loyal to the content of the books, as
gamers will travel through the same exotic signature places known from the
comics while solving Match 3 puzzles. When the gamers succeed, they will unlock
more iconic characters, scenes and items related to the comic books. There are
24 Tintin albums and all of them will be covered in the game.
The Tintin IP is powerful. The Adventures of Tintin movie was released in 2011.
It was directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson and grossed
over 373 million USD in box office revenues around the globe. Hugo Games is the
first game producer to be allowed to use the original Tintin albums in a mobile
game.
