Men alt blir eletrisk i Kina etterhvert. Spennende :)

Wall Street Bullish On Nio Despite Recent Pullback: 'A Must-Own Growth Stock'
Shanthi Rexaline
Thu, November 19, 2020, 5:41 PM GMT+1·4 min read
Despite near-term weakness in Nio Inc – ADR (NYSE: NIO) shares following Citron Research's bearish call on the stock, Wall Street is showing confidence in the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer.
The Nio Analysts: Deutsche Bank Securities analyst Edison Yu reiterated a Buy rating on Nio and increased the price target from $34 to $50.
BofA Securities analyst Ming Hsun Lee reiterated a Buy rating and hiked the price target from $23 to $54.70.
JPMorgan analyst Nick Lai maintained an Overweight rating and lifted the price target from $46 to $50.
Credit Suisse maintained an Outperform rating and raised the price target from $25 to $60.
Deutsche Bank Sees A Major Winner In Chinese EV Market: Nio's third-quarter results could be termed mixed, as it reported in-line revenues but a lower-than-expected gross margin due to the timing of regulatory credits, Deutsche Bank's Yu said in a note.
The fourth-quarter delivery and sales outlook was materially ahead of the consensus estimates, the analyst said.
Supply constraints have become less of an issue, with the company ramping capacity to achieve production of 7,500 units by January, he said.
Despite the volatility and potential corrections depending on EV sentiment and fund flows, Nio is on track to take share from traditional internal combustion manufacturers thanks to its aspirational brand status and innovative and nimble business model, Yu said.
This will help the company emerge a major winner in the Chinese auto market by the middle of the decade, the analyst said.
"This sets up NIO to be a must-own stock for growth-oriented and ESG investors, in our view."
In the near-term, Deutsche Bank said it continues to expect robust monthly delivery volume until the Chinese New Year, driven by the newly launched EC6 SUV coupe, 100-kWh battery pack option and growing battery-as-a-service adoption.
The firm raised its fourth-quarter and 2021 forecasts across the board, reflecting higher sales volume and associated operating leverage, and also to account for higher contributions from regulatory credits.

Nio To Turn Profitable By 2023, BofA Says: Nio will turn profitable in 2023, a year earlier than BofA had previously estimated, Hsun Lee said in a note.
The analyst raised his 2021 through 2023 sales volume forecast above consensus estimates, attributing the elevated expectations to a more positive view on Nio's strategies; a potential overseas contribution starting in 2022; and cooperation with Mobileye on robotaxis in China.
BofA also narrowed its net loss forecast for 2020 through 2021.
"As such, we believe NIO's share in China EV market will rise from 2% in 2019 to 9% in 2022," the analyst said.
JPMorgan On Nio's Competition: Nio's fast-growing ecosystem — with a charging network, online customer community, value-added service and sticky customers — will ultimately benefit Nio's business opportunities, JPMorgan analyst Lai said.
The analyst noted that about 40% new buyers are referrals from existing users.
Nio's sales volume and how it tackles competition in premium segments will be crucial, he said.
Based on the model pipeline from premium OEMs, the analyst said Nio could face competition from Tesla Inc's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y, the price of which will likely to drop from 480,000 yuan ($72,888) to 350,000-400,000 yuan ($53,147-$60,740) and

German brands that may not have volume models anytime soon, he said.
"Meanwhile, the EV addressable market is growing rapidly, hence we expect to see a 'rising tides lift all boats' rather than 'winners take all' phenomena."
Credit Suisse Dissects Nio's Margin Trajectory: The key surprise in the third-quarter print is the higher-than-expected ES8 high-margin SUV contribution, according to Credit Suisse, which added that the vehicle's volume share rose seven points to 29%.
Some of the margin improvement came from falling component sourcing costs, including batteries, the sell-side firm said.
The company guided to further vehicle margin expansion in the fourth quarter thanks to the removal of the previous battery financing interest rate subsidy and a falling per-unit fixed cost from operating leverage, according to the Credit Suisse note.
The company also expects 120 million yuan ($18 million) income from sales of its 2019 NEV credit, which is to be booked in the fourth quarter, the sell-side firm said.
Nio's key catalyst is the new sedan to be showcased on Nio Day Jan. 9, according to Credit Suisse.

NIO earnings: Chinese EV maker beats on revenue in the 3rd quarter
Ines Ferré
Ines Ferré·Markets Reporter
Tue, November 17, 2020, 6:36 PM GMT+1
NIO (NIO) is trading down about 3% in after hours following the Chinese electric vehicle startup’s third quarter results. This comes on the same day rival Tesla soared 8% on news that the EV maker is set to join the S&P 500 (^GSPC).
These are NIO’s results vs consensus estimates compiled by Bloomberg:
Adjusted loss per share: 12 cents vs 17 cents expected
Revenue: US $666.6 million vs $663.29 million expected
Gross margin: 12.9% vs 11.25% forecast by analysts
The company also forecast revenue guidance above what the Street was expected. In the 4th quarter NIO expects to deliver between 16,500 and 17,000 vehicles.
NIO has been an out-performer in the hot EV space this year. The company’s American Depository Shares have rallied over 1000% YTD, namely on the heels of better than expected quarterly results and deliveries. In October, the company doubled its vehicle deliveries to a new monthly high.
The stock has has rallied following major announcements, including a liquidity injection earlier this year.
In August the company launched a battery subscription program. Analysts have also made note of indications that NIO is looking to expand globally starting with Europe.
Last Friday the stock plunged as much as 10% after short-seller Citron Research predicted NIO shares will head to $25, citing Tesla’s vehicle price cuts and overall market share in China.

Nio (NIO) tees up to report third-quarter results Tuesday, after Tesla's (TSLA) emerging Chinese nemesis became the target of a short seller. Nio stock reversed higher.
The report comes after EV rivals Li Auto (LI) and Xpeng Motors (XPEV) both reported mixed results and bullish guidance.
But Chinese electric-car stocks sold off after short seller Citron Research targeted Nio stock, advising investors to rotate out and book profits.
Nio Earnings Report
Estimates: Wall Street expects the electric-SUV maker to lose 15 cents a share vs. a net loss of 33 cents per share a year ago. Revenue is seen jumping 144% to $628 million.
Results: Check back late Tuesday.
Nio has already disclosed that Q3 deliveries surged 154% to 12,206 vehicles, surpassing the high end of its own guidance. October deliveries also more than doubled year over year.
Also in Q3, Nio began deliveries of the new, more affordable EC6 electric crossover and launched its car "battery-as-a-service" business.
IBD Live: A New Tool For Daily Stock Market Analysis
Nio Stock
Shares erased earlier losses to edge up 0.2% at 44.62 in Monday stock market trading. The relative strength line for Nio stock has come off highs after bolting up since October, according to MarketSmith chart analysis. It's the blue line in the chart shown. Earlier this year, Nio stock vaulted on an improving financial picture and strong word-of-mouth for its electric SUVs.
Among other electric car stocks, Li Auto jumped 11.6% and Xpeng rose 4.7%. On Monday, Citi analysts upgraded Li Auto stock to buy with a price target of 45.60 and hiked their Xpeng price target to 57.71 from 34.70. Tesla dipped 0.1%.
Nio Vs. Tesla
Nio has emerged as a bigger threat to Tesla in China. It plans to expand into Europe in 2021, following Tesla's recent move to export Chinese-made Model 3s to the region.
Meanwhile, Nio's new EC6 electric crossover launched in late September and reportedly generated a strong backlog of orders. The sporty, youth-oriented "electric coupe SUV" is seen as a rival to the upcoming Model Y in China. Even more, investors will look for updates on a new electric sedan set to launch next year, challenging the Model 3.
Both vehicles push Nio into the more affordable segment of electric cars. Founded in November 2014, Nio began selling the premium seven-seater ES8 electric SUV in June 2018 and the five-seater ES6 in June 2019. Nio stock backers include Chinese gaming and social media giant Tencent (TECHY).
Along with earnings, investors will watch how well Nio controlled costs as production and deliveries increased. They will likely want to know how Nio's brand-new battery subscription business, underpinned by a new battery company, is doing. Nio launched the battery initiatives in August, aiming to ease pain points tied to owning an electric vehicle.
Not least, Nio's margins and cash balance will be watched, as measures of operational efficiency. At the end of June, Nio had $1.6 billion in cash. Gross margin improved from negative 12.2% in Q1 to positive 8.4% in Q2.

Xpeng was co-founded in 2014 by Henry Xia (Xia Heng) and He Tao, former senior executives at GAC Group with expertise in automotive technology and R&D. Initial backers included He Xiaopeng (now Chairman of Xpeng), founder of UCWeb and former Alibaba executive, and Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi. Prominent Chinese and international investors included Alibaba, Foxconn and IDG Capital. A further funding round in 2018 saw Alibaba's vice president Joseph Tsai join the corporate board of Xpeng.[2][3]

Amisjonene til Kina.

In December 2019, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that new energy vehicles, composed mainly of plug-in electric vehicles (EVs), would represent 25% of overall vehicle sales by 2025. This is a bold target given that less than 5% of total cars sold in 2019 were EVs.

(Reuters) - Shares of electric vehicle maker Nio Inc reversed course to trade lower on Friday after short-seller Citron Research recommended investors to sell the stock, citing pricing pressure posed by bigger rival Tesla Inc in the Chinese market.
Nio's ES6 hatchback model faces imminent threat from likely price cuts for Tesla's Model Y in China, Andrew Left-owned Citron said in an investor note.
Left has long targeted companies that he thinks are over-valued. Friday's take is a reversal to the firm's original recommendation two years ago, when it urged investors to buy the stock.
"Anyone buying NIO stock now is not buying a company or its prospects, rather you are buying 3 letters that move on a screen," Citron said in the note.
Nio did not respond to a request for comment.
Tesla has cut prices in China on several occasions, aiming to gain more market share in the world's biggest car market.
Currently, China-made Model Y has an estimated price of 488,000 yuan ($73,895) in the country, according to Tesla's website.
Citron assigned a $25 price target on the Nio stock on Friday, implying a 48% downside to its last closing price.
The stock rose as much as 12.2% earlier in the session after upbeat quarterly results from peer Li Auto. Nio, which has risen more than 12-fold this year, was down nearly 1% at $47.79 in late morning trade.
"It is long buying and not short covering which is driving NIO's price move," Ihor Dusaniwsky, managing director of predictive analytics at New York-based S3 Partners, told Reuters.
Short sellers, who have bet that Nio's stock price will fall, have logged $3.5 billion in mark-to-market losses this year, according to S3 Partners.
