Its ready! It will reduce🚀

Questerre Energy Corporation
November 11, 2020

"Our Clean Tech Energy project in Quebec will dramatically reduce"

"Mr. Binnion added, “Our Clean Tech Energy project will produce natural gas with near zero emissions. Whether this Clean Gas is used to make hydrogen, to blend with hydrogen, or both, it will materially reduce emissions from production and consumption of energy. More importantly, this could turn Quebec into a hub for high value industries like methanol and fertilizer that use hydrogen and natural gas as raw materials. On a full cycle basis, our Clean Gas could make a significant contribution to reducing the footprint of these and other products.”"

"""Including hydrogen in the natural gas supply in Quebec has been under consideration for some time."""

"Commenting on the status of social acceptability for its Clean Tech project he noted, “With the inclusion of hydrogen in our project and the growing interest from industrial and other consumers, we are increasingly optimistic about our prospects for next year"

"Justin Trudeau’s hydrogen strategy widely praisedPLANS ARE ALREADY UNDERWAY TO BUILD A GREEN HYDROGEN PRODUCTION PLANT IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

By Nelson Bennett | January 6, 2021, 12:00am"

"“The strategy represents a tremendous business opportunity for Canada’s leading hydrogen and fuel cell technology and energy companies,” said Ballard CEO Randy MacEwan.

"""Ionomr has developed ion exchange membranes for fuel that the company says improves efficiency and lowers costs. A new hydrogen industry is also likely to spur investment in Canadian carbon capture technology, because it will be an essential part of “blue hydrogen” production.""""

"The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that hydrogen use and production is set to boom globally, driven by decarbonization efforts and the fact that hydrogen is a highly flexible low carbon energy source that can fill many niches not otherwise filled by other low-carbon energy sources."

""""Canada was late out of the gate in developing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry – eclipsed by Australia and the U.S. in building new LNG projects – so if it doesn’t want to be beat on hydrogen as well, support from both federal and provincial governments will be needed."""""

"The Canadian government estimates hydrogen production and use has the potential to reduce Canada’s GHG emissions by 45 million tonnes annually by 2030 and create 350,000 new jobs by 2050.

“As an increasing number of countries strive for net-zero emissions by 2050, they are looking to hydrogen for their clean energy needs,” said federal Environment and Climate Change Minister Jonathan Wilkinson.

“Canada is well positioned to be among the global leaders in hydrogen production, which will help to create thousands of jobs, grow our economy, cut pollution and put Canada on a path to exceeding our 2030 Paris Agreement target.”"

"NATURAL GAS NEWSINTERVIEW: CANADA’S MINISTER OF NATURAL RESOURCES, HON. SEAMUS O’REGANJan 8, 2021 12:04:pm

SUMMARY

Timothy Egan, President and CEO, Canadian Gas Association: recently uindertook an interview with The Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Natural Resources, Government of Canada.

BY: TIMOTHY EGAN, CANADIAN GAS ASSOCIATION"

"Egan: I share your reservations about the word transition because it does suggest, I think, what some of those who are keen to stop using fuels altogether, want to suggest.

Minister O’Regan: And I would actually build on it Tim, and something that Jonathan Wilkinson (Minister of Environment and Climate Change) actually brought up to me (Minister of Environment and Climate Change) is that it’s not about the source of emissions, it’s about just lowering emissions. We’ve got to get out of this targeting industries. Our goal here is just to lower emissions. That’s our goal. Not lower their emissions, and their emissions, and their emissions. We’ve just got to lower emissions and that’s a very important point when you talk about net-zero by 2050. The important word to remember there is ‘net’. There will still be emissions and there will be other things that will offset those inevitable emissions. We’ll still emit, we’ve just got to emit a heck of a lot less in order to reach 2050 and in order to reach the goals we have set for 2030 as well."

It is not the government of Quebec that is speaking here, but the company Hydro-Quebec and they are of course in favor of green hydrogen.

"Ottawa unveiled its hydrogen strategy on Wednesday in a rare announcement that had the governments of B.C., Alberta, Quebec and Canada all in agreement."

"Canada’s Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson also defended different hydrogen types in different regions, saying it wasn’t the source of hydrogen that was important, but how the fuel gets Canada to its net-zero goal by 2050.

“We’re all about lowering emissions,” he said.

So far, the only money attached to the announcement comes in the form of $1.5 billion in funding for clean fuel initiatives, including hydrogen and biofuels."

The province of Quebec, which has abundant hydroelectric resources and potential to become a major “green” hydrogen producer, was not consulted on the federal plan and is working on its own hydrogen strategy, a spokeswoman for the Quebec Minister of Energy and Natural Resources told Reuters.

Utdrag:

Natural Gas and Oil Industry Investing in Canada’s Economic Recovery

January 13, 2021, Calgary, Alberta

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) is forecasting a 14 per cent increase in upstream natural gas and oil investment in 2021. Capital spending in the sector is expected to be around $3.36 billion higher this year, reaching $27.3 billion, compared to an estimated total investment of $24 billion in 2020.
.....

Natural gas and oil are Canada’s biggest export commodities by value. According to Statistics Canada, exports of crude oil, bitumen, natural gas, natural gas liquids and refined petroleum products generated more than $112 billion, or about 19 per cent of revenue from all of Canada’s exports combined.
Global demand for Canadian natural gas and oil is expected to grow.
In its Stated Policies Scenario, the International Energy Agency (IEA) projects global oil demand will increase five per cent by 2030 and six per cent by 2040 — reaching 104 million barrels per day.
Demand for natural gas is also strong, projected to increase 15 per cent by 2030 and 30 per cent by 2040 — reaching 5,221 billion cubic metres.
Together, oil and natural gas meet 53 per cent of global energy demand in 2040.
The IEA projects heavy oil and bitumen demand will grow 23 per cent by 2040, reaching 4.42 million barrels per day.
Canada is expected to supply approximately 79 per cent of that total.
The IEA report recognizes Canada as a leader in climate action.
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) represents companies, large and small, that explore for, develop and produce natural gas and oil throughout Canada. CAPP’s member companies produce about 80 per cent of Canada’s natural gas and oil. CAPP’s associate members provide a wide range of services that support the upstream oil and natural gas industry. Together CAPP’s members and associate members are an important part of a national industry with revenues from oil and natural gas production of about $116 billion a year. CAPP’s mission, on behalf of the Canadian upstream oil and natural gas industry, is to advocate for and enable economic competitiveness and safe, environmentally and socially responsible performance.

Quebec is the only province that has actually reduced debt in the past six fiscal years, a “remarkable accomplishment,” Rishi Sondi, an economist at Toronto-Dominion Bank, said in a report published July 30.
The province’s ratio of net debt to gross domestic product is now 40 per cent, compared with 51 per cent in 2013. The turnaround is the result of steady economic growth and spending cuts by former Liberal premier Philippe Couillard.

Utdrag

Girard's update predicts $30 billion in deficit spending over three years to manage the effects of the pandemic. He projected a $8.3-billion deficit for fiscal 2021-2022 and $7 billion the following year.
In June, Girard predicted Quebec would balance the books by 2025-2026. On Thursday, he described that projection as a "hope." Balancing the budget in five years will depend on several factors, he said, including more money from Ottawa for health care.

"We’re in the midst of the second wave," Girard said. "There is a lot of uncertainty."
