NB! NB! VIKTIG ENDRING

NB! NB!

Hexagon Purus. Børsmelding.

Hexagon Purus er i langt fremskredne samtaler med USA-baserte Hino Trucks (100% eid av Toyota) om en avtale 'under which Hexagon Purus expects to produce complete battery electric heavy-duty trucks for the U.S. market, distributed exclusively through select qualifying dealers in Hino’s network'!

Hexagon Purus in advanced discussions with Hino Motors for delivery of zero emission heavy-duty trucks in the U.S.

March 01, 2023 10:30 ET | Source: Hexagon Purus ASA

(Oslo, Norway, 1 March 2023) Hexagon Purus (“the Company”), a world leading manufacturer of zero emission mobility and infrastructure solutions, is in advanced discussions with Hino Trucks for a long-term distribution agreement under which Hexagon Purus expects to produce complete battery electric heavy-duty trucks for the U.S. market, distributed exclusively through select qualifying dealers in Hino’s network. The vehicles are expected to be based on Hino’s XL 4x2 tractor chassis and upfitted with Hexagon Purus’ proprietary zero-emission technology, including battery systems, auxiliary modules, power modules and vehicle-level software. The potential agreement foresees the delivery of up to 10,000 trucks by 2030, and the total potential value over the course of the agreement could reach approximately USD 2.0 billion (approximately NOK 20 billion).

Serial production of the electric heavy-duty trucks would be expected to commence during the last part of 2024, and this expanded agreement would replace the already announced (on 11 February 2022) cooperation between Hexagon Purus and Hino to supply battery packs for multiple Hino truck platforms planned for serial production from 2024.

Bravo. Her innledningen av artikkelen. Ønsker man å høre artikkelen istedet for å lese, finner man audiolinken hvis man åpner linken under.

B.C. spends $4M to swap diesel for hydrogen in Metro Vancouver port trucking

The cash will largely go toward a first fleet of trucks at Delta Port

Brent Richter

The province is kicking in $4 million for a project to help ween B.C.’s port industries off carbon by introducing hydrogen fuel-cell powered trucks.

Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation Josie Osborne announced the funding on Tuesday, part of a goal to see reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 110 kilotonnes per year through the project.

“We’re working to reduce emissions in B.C.’s commercial transport sector, which accounts for about 60 per cent of transport emissions and 25 per cent of total provincial emissions,” she said said. “Hydrogen will be essential in helping B.C. make the transition to cleaner energy solutions as we work toward meeting legislated greenhouse gas reduction targets.”

The money will largely go to the first fleet of hydrogen trucks to operate around Delta Port. Four yard trucks will be put to work at the BC Ferries terminal and Tidewater Container Services’ facility. One of two drayage trucks will be used to haul shipping containers by Harbourlink from Delta Port to a distribution centre. The other will be used by HTEC to move hydrogen from its Metro Vancouver production plants to the growing network of filling stations around B.C.

“We want to show the operators … that this is a viable technology, that it meets the needs of the fleet operators and can do the job and that there’s an available source of zero-emission equipment out there,” Jeff Grant, vice-president of transportation solutions for HTEC, the North Vancouver-based hydrogen firm leading the project.

Hydrogen trucks

The trucks will be prototypes outfitted with fuel-cell engines, electric drives and hydrogen storage tanks, designed and assembled by Kelowna’s Hexagon Purus. The first two vehicles are expected to arrive by the end of the year with remaining four coming in 2024. They will be kept fueled via a hydrogen pump HTEC is installing at an existing filling station on Tsawwassen First Nation.

Toyota, Daimler Truck, Hino, Mitsubishi Fuso joining forces in ecological technology

By YURI KAGEYAMAMay 30, 2023

TOKYO (AP) — German truck maker Daimler, Japan’s top automaker Toyota and two other automakers said Tuesday they will work together on new technologies, including using hydrogen fuel, to help fight climate change.

The companies said Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp., whose top stakeholder is Daimler Truck, and Hino Motors, the truck maker in the Toyota group, will merge. Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor Corp. will equally invest in the holding company of the Mitsubishi-Hino merger, they said without giving a dollar amount for the deal.

The companies plan to cooperate in reducing carbon emissions and developing other technologies such as autonomous driving, net-connected services and electric vehicles.

“This collaboration among our four companies is a partnership for creating the future of commercial vehicles in Japan and the future of a ‘mobility society,’ said Toyota Motor Corp. Chief Executive Koji Sato.

The two truck companies will work on commercial vehicle development, procurement and production to become globally competitive, the executives said.

“We at Daimler Truck are very proud of our products, because trucks and buses keep the world moving. And soon they will even do so with zero emissions,” said Daimler Truck Chief Executive Martin Daum.

“Today’s announcement is a crucial step in making that future work economically and in leading sustainable transportation.”

Også BYD samarbeider med Hexagon Purus!

BYD beats Tesla in selling electric cars to the world

Wednesday June 21, 2023

The electric car market has been growing steadily in recent years, with many companies looking to gain leadership in this rapidly evolving sector. This is due to the very good performance, but also the lower maintenance requirements - for example find out more about the particle filter warning light .

In 2022, Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD surprised the world by beating out Tesla as the world's #1 electric car seller. According to 2022 sales data, BYD has sold 1.59 million units of electric cars, surpassing Tesla which has sold 1.45 million units.

This is a significant achievement for BYD, which has demonstrated a strong ability to compete in the electric car market dominated by Tesla.

But what drove BYD's growth as an electric car maker, and how did it beat a company like Tesla, which dominated the electric car market for many years?

New EV from truck maker Hino to debut in U.S. next year

Toyota unit to partner with Norway's Hexagon to develop the zero-emission vehicle

MIHO TANKAI,
Nikkei staff writer
July 25, 2023 00:48 JST

TOKYO -- Hino Motors will start selling an electrified version of its heavy-duty commercial trucks in the U.S. next year, jointly developing the new model with Norwegian partner Hexagon Purus.

Toyota Motor group member Hino plans to begin production of the EV, designed to pull semi-trailers, in 2024, with the aim of 10,000 sales in the U.S. by 2030.

Based on Hino's XL 4x2 tractor chassis sold in North America, the electric version will come equipped with Hexagon's battery system and software, and will have the capacity to run an entire day on one charge, according to Hino.

Hino aims to capture an expected rise in demand for zero-emission commercial vehicles as the U.S. tightens environmental regulations. California announced in March that about half of all commercial vehicles sold within the state will be required to be zero-emission vehicles by 2035.

In general, commercial vehicles have been slow to electrify in the U.S. compared to passenger cars. Battery costs are higher given the longer distances large trucks typically need to travel.

Hino has worked with other companies in EVs rather than going it alone. It joined with Toyota to develop a large fuel-cell truck, and has started developing a small electric truck equipped with motors from Australian startup SEA Electric.

"It would be very difficult for Hino to respond to changes in the business environment like the shift toward carbon neutrality on its own," said Hino's president, Satoshi Ogiso.

Hino's light-duty Dutro Z EV, which went on sale in Japan this year, is the company's only electric truck to have reached the market so far. The company has a goal of electrifying its entire lineup with EVs, fuel-cell vehicles and hybrid vehicles by 2050.

Only 1.2% of commercial vehicles sold globally in 2021 were electrified, according to Tokyo-based Yano Research Institute. The number is expected to reach at least 23% in 2030.

In May, Toyota and Germany's Daimler Truck announced they would combine their truck businesses under a jointly-owned holding company. Hino and Daimler-owned Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. will become subsidiaries of the new holding company.

Hexagon Purus signs lease agreement for new vehicle integration facility in the US

September 20, 2023 10:49 ET| Source: Hexagon Purus ASA

(Oslo, 20 September 2023) Hexagon Purus, a world leading manufacturer of zero emission mobility and hydrogen infrastructure solutions, will open a new vehicle integration facility in Dallas, Texas employing up to 250 skilled workers. The new facility significantly increases Hexagon Purus’ vehicle integration capacity and will enable delivery on the recently won vehicle integration contracts with Hino Motors and the undisclosed major North American OEM.

The new facility is more than 200,000 square feet and with its centralized location in the US, supports efficient production and distribution to customers of Hexagon Purus’ complete battery electric heavy-duty trucks for the US market.

Hexagon Purus has signed a 10-year lease for the facility in Dallas. The building is already constructed, allowing for a quicker move-in-date and shorter time to start of production. Serial production of the trucks out of the new facility is currently expected to commence during the second half of 2024 and initial battery system volumes will be produced and delivered by Hexagon Purus’ facility in Kelowna, Canada. The new facility will also provide Hexagon Purus with the option to add manufacturing capacity for battery modules and packs, which would also qualify for Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) subsidies.

Driving Energy Transformation

“We are very happy to announce our plans for a new vehicle integration facility in Dallas. The facility marks yet another important milestone for Hexagon Purus in building a strong position in the North American zero emission heavy-duty trucking space. We continue to experience solid demand for our vehicle integration offering and the new facility will enable us to deliver on recently won customer contracts”, says Morten Holum, CEO of Hexagon Purus. “The current footprint of the facility also allows for further expansion to support continued customer growth in the US”.

“The new facility is strategically located to serve both the ‘CARB states’ truck demand and obvious applications for low mileage battery electric vehicles like utility trucks and urban truck deliveries. These states and applications will be the main offtake areas for zero-emission trucking in the near- to medium term”, says Todd Sloan, EVP of Hexagon Purus. “The new facility is also located with proximity to key suppliers making it an ideal location for our vehicle integration operations”.

About the market

To reach the 1.5°C ambition set by the Paris agreement back in 2015 the transportation sector is required to reduce emissions by 75% by 2050. In the U.S., both Environmental Protection Act (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) have introduced proposals and regulations that addresses the need for further reductions in emissions in the transportation sector. In California, CARB has introduced a regulation for truck manufacturers (Advanced Clean Truck standard), and more recently, proposed a new regulation for fleet owners (Advanced Clean Fleet standard). Both regulations aim at reducing emissions and accelerate the adoption of zero-emissions vehicles (ZEVs) in the transportation sector in California. As part of both the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) and the proposed Advanced Clean Fleet (ACF) regulations, the truck manufactures and fleet owners are required to have an incrementally higher ZEV content when selling or operating a fleet of trucks in California from 2024 onwards. The ACT regulation has already been adopted by five other states in the U.S. (Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington) and two more states are in the public process required to adopt (Colorado and Main).

The ACT requires amongst other that 5% of all new class 7 and 8 trucks sold in 2024 in California must be ZEV while new additions to fleets of class 7 and 8 trucks operating to and from intermodal seaports and railyards are required to be ZEV from 2024. The ACT regulation also requires 100% of truck manufacturers’ sales in 2040 to come from ZEVs, putting an effective end to sale of internal combustion engine trucks in California and incentivizes investments into infrastructure and supply chain.

There are approximately 1.8 million commercial trucks operating in California daily across a various set of classes including amongst other 219,000 class 7 and 8 trucks. According to CARB, the combined effect from the ACT and ACF regulations will lead to approximately 0.5 million ZEVs on the road by 2035 in California, increasing to 1.6 million in 2050.

Norwegian Company To Open Electric Truck Integration Facility in Dallas Area

The 200,000-plus-square-foot facility in Mesquite will employ up to 250 skilled workers. It will help enable delivery on a contract valued at up to $2 billion with Hino Motors Sales USA for heavy-duty trucks "upfitted with with Hexagon Purus’ proprietary zero-emission technology," including battery systems, power modules, and more.

BY DAVID SEELEY • SEP 27, 2023

Hexagon Purus—a Norway-based global manufacturer of zero-emission mobility and hydrogen infrastructure solutions—is opening a new vehicle integration facility in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite that will help enable delivery on a zero-emission heavy-truck contract worth up to $2 billion.

The newly leased 200,000-plus-square-foot facility will employ up to 250 skilled workers, the company said, and will support  “efficient production and distribution” of Hexagon Purus’ complete battery electric heavy-duty trucks for the U.S. market.

In March, Hexagon Purus signed a distribution agreement with Hino Motors Sales USA. Under that contract, Hexagon Purus will produce complete battery electric heavy-duty trucks for the U.S. market, distributed exclusively through select qualifying dealers in Hino’s network.

The potential total value over the course of the agreement could reach around $2 billion, Hexagon Purus said.

The new facility in Mesquite “significantly increases Hexagon Purus’ vehicle integration capacity and will enable delivery” on the Hino Motors contract, the company said.

Serial production of trucks out of the Mesquite facility is currently expected to begin during the second half of 2024. Initial battery system volumes will be produced and delivered by Hexagon Purus’ newly opened manufacturing facility in Kelowna, Canada.

Upfitting Hino truck chassis with ‘proprietary zero-emission technology’

Under the contract, vehicles rolling out of the Mesquite facility will be based on Hino’s XL 4×2 truck chassis and “upfitted with Hexagon Purus’ proprietary zero-emission technology, including battery systems, auxiliary modules, power modules and the vehicle-level software,” the Norwegian company said.

The Mesquite facility will also enable delivery for a recently won contract with an undisclosed major North American manufacturer.

The facility also gives Hexagon Purus the option to add manufacturing capacity for battery modules and packs, which would qualify for Inflation Reduction Act subsidies, the company said.
...
The CARB states, which have adopted emission standards set by the California Air Resources Board, include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington, along with Washington, D.C.

But Eli Turander, global communications director for Hexagon Purus, told Dallas Innovates the trucks “will be delivered to whoever orders them, which includes Texas. It’s probably reasonable to expect higher volumes in states with incentives.”

Turander, who’s based in Oslo, Norway, said the trucks to be integrated at the Mesquite facility will be utility trucks and 4×2 tractors.

News of the Mesquite facility lease comes on the heels of Hexagon Purus’ April opening of a new engineering and manufacturing facility for battery and hydrogen storage systems in Kelowna, Canada. That was the company’s second North American manufacturing ribbon-cutting this year—in January, Hexagon Purus opened a new hydrogen cylinder production facility in Westminster, Maryland.

“Kelowna is our engineering and battery systems manufacturing hub, and also where the leadership of the battery systems and vehicle integration business unit is located,” Turander said. “The Dallas facility will in the first phase be solely focused on vehicle integration.”

“Initial volumes of battery modules and packs to deliver on the current customer contracts will come out of the Kelowna facility,” she added, saying her company has experienced “strong commercial momentum in the U.S.”

“We expect this to continue as we see a solid demand for our products from OEMs as they continue to switch towards more zero-emission alternatives to comply with regulatory requirements from 2024 onwards,” Turander said. “Having the ability/flexibility to add a battery line at the Dallas facility will allow us to continue to grow alongside the customer demand that we expect will come in the U.S.”

The company behind an engineering and manufacturing facility for transport truck battery and hydrogen storage systems that opened in Kelowna last spring, has announced further expansion plans.

Hexagon Purus, which bills itself as a world leading manufacturer of zero emission mobility solutions, has signed a lease agreement for a new facility in Dallas, Texas. It’s expected to employ up to 250 people. Some of the leaders at the Kelowna office are expected to transfer to Dallas.

“Our expansion is good news for our people in Kelowna and good news for the planet,” says Todd Sloan, EVP Hexagon Purus and local Kelowna resident. “We’re going from strength to strength and this expansion shows that momentum is building for zero emission trucks and other vehicles that take dirty diesel off the road and cut greenhouse gas emissions.”

Hexagon Purus has signed a 10-year lease for the facility in Dallas.

“The new facility is more than 200,000 square feet and with its centralized location in the US, supports efficient production and distribution to customers of Hexagon Purus’ complete battery electric heavy-duty trucks for the US market,” said the company in a news release.

Truck production in Texas is expected to begin in the second half of 2024. Initial battery systems will be produced and delivered by the Kelowna facility. The new plant will also give Hexagon Purus the option of adding manufacturing capacity for battery modules and packs.

“We continue to experience solid demand for our vehicle integration offering and the new facility will enable us to deliver on recently won customer contracts”, says Morten Holum, CEO of Hexagon Purus. “The current footprint of the facility also allows for further expansion to support continued customer growth in the US”.

The 60,000 square foot building in Kelowna opened in April, 2023, putting the Central Okanagan at the forefront of the zero emission truck industry.
