That's significant, because ZEN has always made it clear that this is a two-stage process: negotiation, followed by finalisation.

They have clearly now moved beyond the negotiation stage, and are in the process of 'dotting the "i"s and crossing the "t"s.

Completing that shouldn't take long at all.

But more important for any doubters (which has never included myself) is that this is in effect confirmation that the PSA will be going ahead as expected."

As has bene pointed out on here earlier, the key information that has been released by today’s RNS is the information that we have ceased “negotiating” the terms of the Production Sharing Contract with Benin and have now moved into “finalising” the PSC. Zenith are always very careful with their wording in all of their RNS releases and the change in terminology from the tweet of March 29th where they said that they were working “towards finalising the terms of a Production Sharing Contract” is very significant.

Negotiating a production sharing contract and finalising a production sharing contract are two distinct stages in the process of establishing a joint venture between a government and a private company for oil and gas exploration and production.

Negotiating a PSC involves discussions and bargaining between the two parties to agree on the terms and conditions that will govern the exploration, development, and production of oil or gas resources. During this stage, both parties will discuss the terms and conditions of the contract, including the sharing of profits, tax and royalty payments, and other obligations and responsibilities. The negotiations may involve several rounds of discussions, revisions, and compromises before both parties reach an agreement on the terms of the contract.

Finalising a production sharing contract, on the other hand, is the stage where both parties have agreed on the terms of the contract, and the contract is ready to be signed. This stage involves the drafting of the final contract, which includes all the agreed-upon terms and conditions, and the legal review and approval of the contract by both parties. Once the contract is finalized and signed, it becomes legally binding, and the joint venture can begin the exploration and production activities.

In summary, negotiating a production sharing contract is the process of discussing and reaching an agreement on the terms and conditions of the contract, while finalising a production sharing contract is the stage where the agreed-upon terms are incorporated into a legally binding document.

So despite all of the worries that some may have had that we have moved out of the exclusivity stage of the agreement with the Benin government, it actually appears that things are proceeding very smoothly and we are entering the final stages of getting the contact signed. Obviously it is impossible to say that everything is 100% agreed until the PSC is actually signed and announced but I feel that it looks like we are 90% of the way there now and my personal feeling is that we will be operating in Benin in the near future. It certainly all looks good at this stage.

The resolution was passed yesterday that the consolidation (reverse split) is definitely going to happen but as Viking says, we need to wait to be informed as to when it will take affect. If will be good for the future of the stock when it does happen though - especially if they follow it up quickly with successful news of the Benin acquisition, which is now looking very likely.
