BWE.
« The Ministry of Mines and Energy says the country's Kudu gas reserves are expected to increase to 10 trillion cubic feet (TCF) from the current estimated 1.3 TCF.
The revised figure is due to the associated gas found within the Graff-1 well by Shell, Yonker, and TotalEnergies' enormous Venus-1 offshore discovery.
Petroleum Commissioner Maggy Shino said the discovery of light crude oil reserves has transformed the landscape of the Kudu gas field.
"We are seeing that we now have a possibility of us increasing this 1.3 TCF of natural gas to up to ten TCF of gas because of the associated gas that we are seeing within the graph, within the Yonker and within Venus," she said on Wednesday.
The revelation has the potential to reshape the energy landscape in Namibia and the wider Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. »

Having completed its multi-well exploration and appraisal drilling campaign earlier this year, Shell is now getting down to the business of better understanding the structure of the discovered reservoirs, seals and traps, and the characteristics of the hydrocarbons.
A well-placed source told Upstream recently that Enigma, the latest find, is the best on Shell's books so far, followed by Jonker.
Both of these discoveries are located just across the border from Venus where TotalEnergies is already pushing ahead with a phased development, while Galp is already talking about a multi-FPSO project at Mopane.
Speaking to analysts in Shell's second-quarter results call on Thursday, Sawan said of PEL 39: "Its a complex subsurface. While there is no shortage of (hydrocarbon) volume, the question is going to be the commercial producibility and the mobility of those molecules."
However, he said the studies and activities of other players in the Orange basin — which also include Chevron, Rhino Resources, BW Energy and Woodside — are: "Very helpful; we are all learning as we go to be able to better understand the reservoirs and the contours of the reservoirs."
Asked what would be required to move a potential project in PEL 39 towards the final investment decision, Sawan said: "We would need line of sight towards the returns we would expect. We need to assure ourselves that we have investable projects in the returns ranges we indicated in our capital markets day (CMD) in 2023."
Shell stated in its June 2023 CMD that upstream projects must be able to generate an internal rate of return of 15%.
Sawan explained that because the Orange basin is a relatively new area to invest in, there would need to be "quite a bit" of infrastructure to be able to make a project work.
"That's why were taking our time; thinking through it; making sure we have a good enough picture before we commit our shareholders' capital to a development."
Shell's boss pointed out that: "Time is our friend, as we are learning from both our own analysis as well as the analysis and activities of others."
How to handle associated gas appears to be a common theme among all operators of Orange basin finds, with re-injection the favoured solution.

Ikke helt rett frem for Shell i Orange Basin.
« Shell has 'no shortage' of oil and gas in its Namibia discoveries, but questions remain over 'mobility', says chief executive
Wael Sawan cautions that supermajor's Orange basin finds are complex, with work underway to see if they can be extracted on a commercial basis
Updated 2 August 2024, 14:03
Shell's cluster of deepwater discoveries in Namibia's prolific Orange basin are geologically complex and a commercial development is not straightforward, according to chief executive Wael Sawan.
The supermajor has made five discoveries in Petroleum Exploration Licence 83 — Enigma, Jonker, Graff, La Rona and Lesedi — and drilled only one unsuccessful exploration well.
However, compared to TotalEnergies' Venus and Mangetti discoveries to the west and Galp Energia's huge Mopane find to the north, which appear to lie in Orange basin sweet spots, Shell's quintet of discoveries seem to have more sub-surface challenges, an issue Sawan has alluded to previously.«

Bare for sammenligningen skyld.

8 i månedsskifte november/ desember.

Særlig i produksjonslinjen.

This is a testament to the enhanced operational rigor that is being exercised across our IET and OFSE segments."
"We continued the positive trend of returning meaningful cash to shareholders. In the quarter, we paid dividends of $209 million and repurchased $166 million of shares, remaining on course to return 60% - 80% of free cash flow to our shareholders."
"Our exceptional second-quarter results are a credit to the hard work and dedication of the employees at Baker Hughes; I recognize this and express my sincere thanks to all of you," concluded Simonelli.»

Line of sight to Hibiscus plateau production. With the delivery of the new
conventional ESP systems and extension of the drilling rig contract until February 2025,
the company is set to complete the workover of eight production wells at Hibiscus,
probably reaching plateau production as we move into 2025.

Upstream 29.7.: « ‘Too challenging’: TotalEnergies quits 4.5 trillion cubic foot South Africa gas project
Supermajor has exited the big $3 billion Luiperd and Brulpadda project due to commercial challenges
France’s TotalEnergies has decided to exit a gas-rich block offshore South Africa in a major blow to the government of national unity because the Brulpadda and Luiperd discoveries were "too challenging" to develop.
In a statement on Monday, TotalEnergies said it is exiting Block 11B/12B, following the earlier revelation that Canadian Natural Resources was also on the way out.
TotalEnergies, through its local arm TotalEnergies EP South Africa, holds a 45% interest in the block, while Canadian Natural holds 20%.
It is now likely that Qatar Energies will also exit Block 11B/12B, leaving local player Main Street - in which Africa Energy Corporation has an indirect interest - as the only stakeholder.
The supermajor said it is quitting because it would be “too challenging to develop and monetise” the gas resource for the domestic market.
TotalEnergies’ development plan was to pipe gas from the two deepwater finds to the Mossel Bay gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant — operated by state oil company PetroSA — that has been idle for some years due to lack of feedstock.
Additional volumes were then expected to feed an existing power station converted from handling diesel and, later on, to a new gas-fired power station.
However, wrangling over gas prices with government and PetroSA's decision to engage with Russia's sanctioned Gazprombank to revitalise the GTL plant, are understood to have been key factors behind the departure of CNR, and the exit of TotalEnergies.
Meanwhile, the company is also exiting Block 5/6/7 offshore Cape Town, high-risk exploration acreage where its holds a 40% stake and which has been a target for domestic anti-fossil fuel campaigners.

«Galp wants big seismic shoot over massive Mopane discovery to cover Shell and Rhino acreage
Portuguese company's plan for major 3D survey indicates freshly discovered Mopane play extends south
Published 1 August 2024, 12:15
Galp Energia is seeking environmental clearance from Namibia’s authorities for a major 3D seismic shoot over its huge Mopane oil and gas discovery in Petroleum Exploration Licence 83, that would also extend into acreage operated by Shell and Rhino Resources.
Galp said it has discovered in-place resources of 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent at Mopane, after recently competing two exploration wells, one of which was successfully flow tested.
The company plans to fire up a four-well appraisal drilling programme later this year to better define the resources it has discovered and boost its understanding of the sub-surface.

Q1 conf call: And second question, a bit from the slide here is, with all the organic growth initiatives you have in the portfolio now, is M&A a bit more off the table or are you still kind of actively exploring that as well?
The M&A activity. I mean we have a lot on our table are we still having appetite for M&A?
We are looking at lots of things that comes our way. People want to talk to us. We're extremely appreciative of that. And we will always look but you are right in the sense that we feel we have a very, very attractive portfolio of assets. But of course, if we were to find something that we would find even more attractive than what we have in our portfolio today, sensible, let's say, financial development is then to go for the most attractive you have, first, which is -- that's the normal -- that's a normal thing we will do. So yes, we're constantly looking at M&A opportunities.

inference skrev Tvilsomt. Pen skriver «is expected to reach 40.000»
