As it stands, Quebec is dependent on getting energy from outside. This means that Legault is gambling with Quebec's energy security
Think he's going to cost Quebecers dearly
September 25, 2023,
"Legault welcomed his counterparts to the conference Monday, he suggested that a deal with Newfoundland and Labrador is crucial for Quebec.
"Obviously, to reach our carbon neutrality goals, we have to build more renewable energy," the Quebec premier said."

Not a signal of changing Quebecs energy politics. Quite opposite. Quebec will never legalize gasproduction in Lowlands.

Now there is at least one less opponent to contend with regarding the extraction of oil and gas and LNG export and that is Justin Trudeau & Co.

Yes, it clearly shows that it is not impossible to win a case against the state and = against the provinces (Quebec as well)
We have legislation on this and it was Quebec that encouraged the oil companies to explore and issued licenses = a strong case

«The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) are applauding a Supreme Court of Canada ruling this morning, October 13, that found the Impact Assessment Act to be unconstitutional.»

Court's ruling on environmental impact law clips federal government's wings on climate change, expert says
The decision clearly states the environment is an important issue, but the federal government can't overstep its boundaries into provincial jurisdiction, such as power plants and natural resource projects.

Falt tilbake igjen.

I am sure that this ruling was incredibly positive for QEC. Now they don't have to think about the Canadian state, but only about the Quebec government/authorities regarding their licenses.
It also clearly shows that it is not impossible for QEC to win a case against Quebec. QEC has a good and strong case
"The Supreme Court has effectively acknowledged the division of powers stipulated in the Canadian Constitution and reinforced the jurisdiction of the provinces to manage the development of natural resources, forestry, and electrical energy.
What proponents seeking to invest in such projects in Canada had faced with this Act is navigating two project reviews – one led by the federal government, and one co-ordinated by the provincial government – that were often redundant and at cross purposes."
