Hexagon Purus H2 (tung)transport, buss watch, Nikola m.m.

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/NKLA/

"Walmart Canada operates a substantial fleet to manage its logistics. The company has around 10,000 tractors and 80,000 trailers in its North American operations, including Canada (electrive.com). In line with its sustainability goals, Walmart Canada is gradually transitioning to an electric fleet, starting with the introduction of three electric semi-trucks in British Columbia (Walmart Canada) (Truckstop Canada). This move is part of Walmart's broader plan to electrify its entire fleet and achieve zero emissions by 2040 (Walmart Sustainability Hub)."

Walmart som trygt kan kalles en bjellesau, og som med egne ord uttrykker at “Walmart Canada has an ambitious plan to power 100% of our fleet with alternative power".
Walmart Canada Becomes the First Major Retailer in Canada to Introduce a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Semi-Truck
Published June 27, 2024
MISSISSAUGA, ON – June 27, 2024 – Walmart Canada’s new hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric semi-truck is now on the roads in Mississauga, Ontario as the retailer continues its ambitious journey towards a 100% alternatively-powered fleet.
Walmart Canada is the first major retailer in Canada to introduce a hydrogen fuel cell electric semi-truck to its fleet. Operating with zero tailpipe emissions, the Nikola Hydrogen Fuel Cell EV Class 8 tractor has a range of about 800 kilometres and on average can avoid 97 metric tons of CO2 tailpipe emissions annually according to the manufacturer.* According to Nikola, Walmart Canada is also the first retail fleet to operate one of these trucks in North America.
The introduction of trucks powered by hydrogen fuel opens the door to longer-haul travel with alternative power, extending the range that’s currently possible with the fleet’s electric options. This first hydrogen FCEV was sourced by Etobicoke, Ontario-based ITD Industries Inc., an industry-leading transportation solutions provider, and will be deployed in Ontario for longer-haul trips.
...
The Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric semi-truck carries high-pressure gaseous hydrogen onboard in specialized tanks, similar to how a conventional truck carries diesel. The hydrogen then runs through the fuel cell stack, which is converted to electricity by combining it with oxygen, with water vapor as the only byproduct. This electric power is transferred to the high-voltage power-net, which can charge the on-board batteries, and transfer power to the pavement via an e-axle with integrated electric motors.

Spennende nyhet. Ting skjer.
Daimler Truck and Volvo open hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing plant for trucks
27 June, 2024 10:50
German company Cellcentric&Co KG has opened a hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing plant for heavy trucks in the city of Eslingen-Plienzauvorstadt
For now, this will be pilot production, and large-scale deployment is planned for the end of the decade, when hydrogen main tractors are expected to become the basis for the development of environmentally friendly heavy-duty transport.
The enterprise with a total area of 10,300 square meters employs 100 people. A high level of automation is used here. In addition to development and production, Cellcentric also plans to provide a full range of services for the maintenance and repair of hydrogen fuel systems.
There will also be a lot of attention paid to the precise use of resources. This includes the reuse of decommissioned systems for applications in other lower-requirement areas.
Specifically, it is about restoring fuel cell modules to a new state through a complete overhaul. As well as the recovery of raw materials and their reuse through processing.
It should be noted that in May 2024, at ACT Expo in Las Vegas, the company Cellcentric showed its latest NextGen hydrogen fuel cell system. In addition, its fuel cells of the BZA150 generation have been tested on the track of Daimler Truck and Volvo tractors.
The start of NextGen production is scheduled for the end of the decade. Cellcentric & Co KG is a joint venture between Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group, established in 2021 to develop and promote hydrogen technologies.

Interessant er nyheten vi implisitt får i Forbes-artikkelen om at "Norwegian Hydrogen, FirstElement Fuel Inc., and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. have formed a partnership to develop a joint hydrogen refueling infrastructure"! Se mitt forrige innlegg her på tråden for mer.

When In Nordics All Roads Lead To Vireon: H2 In Three Countries

As discussed in one of my previous articles, Norwegian Hydrogen established Vireon AS, a hydrogen fueling infrastructure brand with the aim of becoming the leading operator of hydrogen refueling stations for heavy duty transport in the Nordics. Through substantial investments in land transportation infrastructure, Vireon utilizing Norwegian Hydrogen technical expertise and grants experience seeks to expedite the adoption of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty transport in the entire Nordics. It has been especially successful in winning grants that enable projects in Norway, Denmark and Finland among others, and the secret is revealed at the end. As a matter of fact, Vireon is the only company selected to build new hydrogen stations in Denmark and Finland, a network of green hydrogen refueling stations stretching from Northern Finland via Sweden and Denmark to continental Europe, establishing a vital corridor for zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles. Vireon secured €9.2 million in EU funding for seven stations. While the government funding provides about 30 to 25% of CAPEX, the rest is covered by Vireon’s investors.
Out of our many locations in Norway, six were recently awarded grants based on the expectation that they would be the first strategic spots to need heavy-duty hydrogen refueling stations. These stations form two main corridors, between the Capital of Norway, Oslo, and Trondheim in Mid-Norway and Stavanger on the west-coast. This is two routes with a lot of heavy-duty trucks going back-and-forth, and the first customers have already ordered hydrogen powered trucks to be used between the three cities. Norwegian Hydrogen, the sole owner of Vireon, is also developing hydrogen production facilities across the Nordics. Vireon plan to source green hydrogen from these facilities, and also to partner with other hydrogen producers in the Nordics to ensure sufficient supply.
...
Vireon emphasizes working with various technology providers to ensure the best solutions for each project. They are also technology-agnostic when it comes to hydrogen storage, currently using Hexagon Purus trailers but open to other options.
...
Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen says: "I'm deeply proud of our team's double success in securing EU grants totaling NOK 210 million for our hydrogen projects. This achievement not only fuels our passion and efforts towards a sustainable future, but also reinforces our leading position in the green energy transition.” NOK 210 million is approximately €18.2 million secured by both projects.
The secret to Vireon’s successful advancement of a network of hydrogen refueling stations in the Nordics is not a surprise as Norwegian Hydrogen, FirstElement Fuel Inc., and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. have formed a partnership to develop a joint hydrogen refueling infrastructure. This collaboration aims to accelerate the hydrogen heavy duty mobility by leveraging FirstElement Fuel's technical expertise in California, USA. Just in April 2024 in the Port of Oakland, FirstElement Fuel started operations at the North America’s largest hydrogen station.

Nikola stats show H2-powered trucking is for real
Alan Adler
Fri, Jun 7, 2024, 5:00 PM GMT+2 10 min read
Nikola has delivered 75 hydrogen-powered fuel cell trucks to customers. It has an order bank that should begin to produce meaningful revenue. Now it is producing statistical evidence that hydrogen-powered trucking is not just for show.
At two industry conferences this week and in data shared first with Truck Tech, Nikola revealed it has:
Completed 1,666 hydrogen fill-ups at three mobile refuelers in Coolidge, Arizona, as well as Ontario and Long Beach, California.
Dispensed 60.54 tons of hydrogen.
Averaged a fill time of 22.2 minutes in Long Beach and 23.5 minutes in Ontario. That is slightly longer than the 10-15 minutes for a diesel fill-up but much faster than recharging a battery-electric truck.
Averaged overall uptime of 95.4% including hydrogen station downtime. The trucks themselves operated 92.9% of the time.

Tech phoenix: how electric-vehicle manufacturer Nikola Corporation is rising from the ashes
10 Jun 2024 James McKenzie
James McKenzie explains what we can learn from electric-vehicle manufacturer Nikola Corporation, which is finally coming good despite its founder being jailed
Nikola Corporation is a US electric-vehicle company that once – briefly – had a market capitalization even greater than that of Ford. It was founded in 2014 by Trevor Milton, who served as chief executive and then executive chairman when the company went public in 2020. In December 2023, however, Milton was jailed for four years after being found guilty on three counts of criminal fraud for lying about “nearly all aspects of the business”, as US federal investigators put it.
Milton’s firm had also been slammed for excessive hype and fake promotional videos – one of which showed its prototype hydrogen-powered lorry rolling downhill rather than moving under its own power. Given the scandal and the jailing of the owner, you might think it would be impossible for Nikola to survive. However, the company is bouncing back.
With new management in place, Nikola is now on a genuine path to produce trucks powered by electric batteries and hydrogen fuel cells. In May the California-based logistics company Ailo placed an order for 100 of Nikola’s hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks. Deliveries are scheduled for 2025, marking a remarkable phoenix-like transformation for Nikola.

Air Products plans to set up statewide hydrogen refueling stations in California
Hydrogen Buzz
Thursday, 30 May 2024
Air Products has announced its plans to build a network of commercial-scale and multi-modal hydrogen refueling stations stretching from Northern California to Southern California. The planned stations will be equipped to serve heavy-duty vehicles, such as commercial and municipal trucks and buses, as well light-duty hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
The company is currently operating six hydrogen refueling stations in Southern California. The new stations will deliver enhanced fueling technology capability, including significantly higher capacity, multiple fueling dispensers and service for both heavy- and light-duty vehicles, it added.
"Building a robust hydrogen economy infrastructure is critical to the success of the energy transition and meeting our climate change goals," said Eric Guter, Air Products' Vice President, Hydrogen for Mobility, who made the announcement during his keynote address at the California Hydrogen Convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center recently.
"California is a leader in the energy transition and a first-mover in making zero-emission, heavy-duty transportation in the U.S. a reality. As the world's largest supplier of hydrogen, Air Products has committed to investing $15 billion by 2027 in clean energy megaprojects around the world. Working together, energy companies, vehicle manufacturers and governments can accelerate the energy transition and generate a cleaner future for all", he added.
As the world's largest supplier of hydrogen, Air Products claims to have hands-on operating experience with over 250 hydrogen fueling station projects in 20 countries, spanning over 1.5 million fueling operations annually.
"Each state-of-the-art, high-capacity, high-reliability station will be able to fuel up to 200 heavy-duty trucks or 2,000 cars per day," said Alison Hawkins, Air Products' General Manager – Hydrogen for Mobility, Americas. "These stations will be a key driver to help California on its road to a zero-emissions transportation future", he added.
It is to be noted that Air Products recently announced its plans to build a similar network of multi-modal hydrogen refueling stations connecting Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta in Canada.

Press release

Johnny Martinsen, produktsjef i MAN Norge presenterte lastebilen.
Se egen sak her.
...

Veldig bra for Hexagon Purus.

Nikola’s Urgent Expansion of Volume Sales and Hydrogen Stations Unveiled
May 14, 2024 0 By JOHN MAX
A Closer Look at Nikola Sales and Hydrogen Network Expansion
In a strategic move that signals a fresh chapter for Nikola Corporation (Nasdaq: NKLA), the company has embarked on an ambitious plan to boost volume sales and significantly expand its hydrogen fuel station network. This move, aimed at consolidating Nikola’s foothold in the zero-emissions transportation sector, comes amidst a mixed performance in the first quarter, yet notably, deliveries of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) have exceeded expectations.
A Calculated Shift to Scale Production
Nikola’s decision to ramp up production and delivery scale is a multifaceted strategy designed to absorb fixed costs, enhance volume credibility with suppliers, raise brand awareness, and leverage its growing hydrogen fuel station network. While this approach might affect average selling prices (ASPs) in the short term, it is deemed crucial for carving out a sustainable path to long-term success.

FirstElement Fuel, a California-based company established in 2013, has opened the world’s first hydrogen fuel station for commercial trucks just outside the Port of Oakland. The station’s capacity is more than 10 times the capacity of any previous station.
Hyundai XCIENT fuel-cell tractors, carrying 68.6 kilograms of hydrogen each for 450 miles of range, have been dedicated to the station for “drayage” duty. Hydrogen trucks from Nikola will also be operating out of Oakland and buying fuel from FirstElement, according to Autoweek.
Cummins, Bosch, Daimler, Toyota, and Volvo are also in the line to develop the fuel-cell hydrogen trucks. In this regard, Quantron, a German company, signed a memorandum of understanding with FEF.

Nikola’s agreement with FEF
In December 2023, Nikola Corporation and FirstElement Fuel (FEF) formalized a definitive 10-year agreement to refuel Nikola’s hydrogen fuel cell electric truck at FEF’s hydrogen refueling station in Oakland, Calif. Under this strategic partnership, FEF is appointed as an authorized Nikola Fueling Solutions Partner. This collaboration enables Nikola customers to access fueling services at the new FEF multi-use heavy-duty truck station situated strategically near the port in Oakland, Calif.

Bingo!
China, leader in EVs, could overtake the world in hydrogen mobility too

China might be stealing a march on the world yet again. The government is targeting to build at least 1,200 hydrogen refueling stations for mobility across the country by 2025, which would mean that it would have more hydrogen stations than the rest of the globe currently boasts.
The country already has the maximum number of hydrogen refueling stations in the world, although their exact numbers are not that clear. Jiang Lijun, vice president of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, says the China has built more than 400 stations, of which 280 have begun operations. Other experts estimate the total number of active hydrogen refueling stations at 250.
The boom is prompted largely by the success of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the Middle Kingdom, and by government plans to accelerate their adoption. China is forecast to have 12,000 to 18,000 fuel-cell vehicles (FCVs) plying its roads in 2024. This success in FCVs is generating demand for hydrogen refueling stations, and even the country's local governments have now begun to include in plans and regulations.

Oljefondet eier 9.25% i Nikola
https://www.nbim.no/no/oljefondet/investeringene/#/2023/investments/equities/8159/Nikola%20Corp

Nikola Delivers More Hydrogen Semis, Helping It Beat Tesla In Electric Big Rigs
The company beat expectations by shipping 40 fuel cell trucks in the first quarter, likely putting it ahead of Tesla’s electric Semi. But it still needs funds to survive over the long term.
Nikola, the first company to sell hydrogen-powered semis in the U.S., delivered more fuel cell trucks to customers in the year’s first three months than analysts expected and may benefit from tougher U.S. rules for cleaner heavy-duty commercial vehicles, positive developments as it works to shake off a chaotic past. And while its volumes are still small, Nikola is beating Tesla in the heavy truck market.
