PV-Magazine, April 3, 2018:
“Spain: Government expects solar to dominate by 2030 with up to 77 GW:

In a new report, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Digital Agenda has predicted that solar will become the country’s largest electricity source by the end of the next decade. Cumulative installed PV power could even reach 77 GW by the end of 2030, according to the most bullish scenario drafted by the Spanish government.

Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Digital Agenda has published a new report, including new growth scenarios for the future of the Spanish energy market, which recognizes solar as the future cheapest source of power, and the dominance of PV above all other energy sources by 2030.”

"Investors are now betting again on solar power generation in Spain
- Blazing return - One reason is that solar panels can now produce electricity at a lower price than traditional power sources such as coal, gas and nuclear.
Moreover, investors into renewables know how much construction and operation will cost them, while traditional power stations have only a limited ability to lock in prices for fuel.

"It is much more profitable to invest in capital-intensive technologies (like photovoltaic power) than technologies where the raw material comes at a cost" like gas or coal, said the president of renewable energy lobby group Fundacion Renovables, Fernando Ferrando."

It is EXTREMELY profitable to invest in photovoltaic power, since operation does not require raw material, AND the capital investments into construction have fallen to a level where they become 'almost negligible'. :)
