Capesize FFA Commentary:
Capes rocketed again as the final settlement day of November came with another strong index. December traded up to $24600, the discount from index dramatically swallowed up by both closing shorts and buyers taking new positions. The physical market seems set to continue for now with higher levels being fix day on day. Talk of a $30k index now seems well within reach and would be very welcome in the shipping sector….the future looks bright.
Panamax FFA Commentary:
With both basins continuing to gather momentum we saw further gains across the curve today on Panamax paper with prompts adding ave $500 in line with jump in the index. Dec and Q1 traded up to $12700 and $11250 highs respectively before seeing some resistance forming while Cal18 printed $11k several times. 14. august var kursen den samme som nå i GOGL. Da var ratenene på drøyt $16.000/day og alt var usikkert i forbindelse med restriksjonene i Kina.
I dag er ratene $27.725/day og usikkerheten borte:-) I tillegg er FFA for Q1 ca. 65% høyerere enn i august.
EDIT: Fra Twitter nå: "Further improvements seen in Eastern Hemi Capesize market ". Altså ratene på full fart mot $30.000/day nå.
Kanskje klarer vi få kursen litt ned slik at vi ender på P/E =1 til slutt ?

Denne er nødt til å sprekke snart med et stort byks nordover når vi har rater på dette nivået. Tror det kan bli en fin avslutning på dagen/uken for de som sitter med aksjer i GOGL.

Jeg støtter den, tror det vil kommer enkeltdag(er) med stor oppgang. Er nok mange som vil inn når motstanden på ca 68 endelig brytes. Har vært en forutsigbar aksje for tradere opp og ned på 60-tallet en stund, men mer frustrerende for de som fokuserer på det fundamentale / det langsiktige.

shippingballs - Husk at det er STORE penger i sving her nå. Som du ser har shorterne nok en gang forsøkt seg på hele fire stoplos raid i dag. Raid nr. tre var delvis vellykket. Men det underliggende i aksjen er nå så sterkt at den spretter opp hver gang. Vi er helt i sluttfasen av "forsvaret" nå.
Om vi får et brudd på 68,. i dag, skal du ikke se bort ifra at vi er på over 70,. før dagen er omme.

Vanskelig å forstå denne berg-og-dalbane deluxe på de beste capesize-ratene på flere år.
Men det er fredag, det er varslet oppgang også i dag. Og det er signaler/forventninger om videre oppgang i neste uke, så jeg tror vi bikker 68 i dag. Og 70 på man/tir.

Stort volum så langt, så får vi håpe at det er i dag 68 brytes. Ser bra ut teknisk, ratene stiger.. ser ikke hva som kan holde igjen denne særlig lenger. Samtidig har ikke GOGL vært den enkleste aksjen å forstå en stund.

Kan vi komme i en shortskvis situasjon i GOGL ? Hvor mye kan kursen evt. gå i en slik situasjon og hvor lenge varer det ? Prøver å følge med daglig på mine GOGL, men er ikke alltid jeg har tid. Kan man gå glipp av en mulighet om man ikke følger med flere ganger for dag eller vil en eventuell skvis vare en stund ?

Da fikk vi et siste desperat forsøk på å forsvare aksjene for av 260 000 000.- som hadde satset på nedtur i bulk. De var selvsagt villige til å ofre litt for å hindre bruddet opp.
Men det er for sent nå kjære shortere. Kjøperne er nå på plass igjen, ratebildet er meget hyggelig og både volum og prisen på jernmalmen til Kina er bra. Flåteveksten neste år blir lav og OBOR prosjektet ruller videre.
Om vi er heldige blir det utbytte på rundt 14-15 kroner pr. aksje allerede neste år. Da er det ikke mange som vil selge aksjer til 67.- eller lavere. Noen er det selvsagt som ikke følger med og som trenger penger til julegaver. Lykke til shortere med å kjøpe tilbake de over 4 millioner aksjene som skal leveres tilbake til sine eiere. Det skal bli en fryd å se på kampen deres:-)

The markets have however been lagging because of fear of China, yet a lower Chinese steel demand growth will still imply massive import needs of both iron ore and coal. We believe the current share price offers a nice point of entry as the share is trading below its 5-year average P/NAV. We believe the market will start to price in a stronger 2018 than originally anticipated soon, and with fleet growth in the drybulk segment below 2% next year the positive start can easily be extrapolated into a very firm Q4. Asia Dry Bulk-Capesize rates to climb higher in a ‘market on fire’
Freight rates for large dry cargo ships on key Asian routes, which hit three-year highs this week, are likely to rise further on a shortage of ships available for immediate charter, brokers said.
Rates for 180,000 deadweight tonne (DWT) capesize ships are set to break $10 a tonne from Australia to China in the next few days, while rates could also surpass $20 a tonne from Brazil to China.
“There are more chances of rates breaking $10 than $20 because the Australian market is more active among miners and vessel operators,” a Singapore-based capesize broker said on Thursday.
The $10-a-tonne level was last breached in April 2014, and would be equivalent to earnings of $28,500 a day, while rates of $20 a tonne were last seen in November 2014, according to ship brokers and data on the Reuters Eikon terminal.
“Fortescue Metals was offering $9.50-$9.55 a tonne on Thursday. Roy Hill is likely to fix north of $10 a tonne,” the broker said.
“It doesn’t look like there will be any slowdown, particularly from Australia,” the broker added.
Rio Tinto and FMG have both been active charterers this week, brokers said.
In the Brazilian market, vessel operators have been active while Vale has largely stayed away from spot charters this week.
“Weather delays in China and also significantly increased Brazil activity (are) adding fuel to a market segment on fire,” Norwegian ship broker Fearnley said in a note.
Vale has focused on developing chartering relationships with a core group of shipowners through long-term charters.
South Korea owner Pan Ocean said on Thursday that it had won a 1.98 trillion won ($1.82 billion) contract from Vale to haul iron ore from Brazil to China for 27 years starting in 2020. Pan Ocean said Vale will sign long-term contracts for 30 ships from seven South Korean and foreign ship owners.
“Happy days for the big ships with high and improving iron ore demand and prices in particular. Coal transaction volumes also higher than foreseen,” Fearnley said in its note on Wednesday.
Capesize charter rates on the Western Australia-China route rose to $9.44 a tonne on Wednesday from $8.35 per tonne last week. Rates hit $9.51 a tonne on Tuesday, the highest since Nov. 11, 2014.
Freight rates from Brazil to China soared to $19.79 a tonne on Wednesday, the highest since Nov. 21, 2014, from $18.50 per tonne the same day last week.
Panamax rates for a north Pacific round trip voyage rose to $9,750 per day on Wednesday, the highest since Nov. 10 from $9,029 per day last week.
Rates in Asia for smaller supramax ships continued to rise with rates of $10,000-$11,000 per day from India to southeast Asia, and Singapore to Japan.
