Chinese polysilicon company manufacturer Tongwei is adding to its polysilicon production capacity an additional 40,000 metric tons (MT) in Baoshan city of Yunan province in China. The company plans to invest RMB 4 billion ($565 million) on its construction.
Work on the project is planned to begin in H1/2020 and achieve completion by the end of November 2021, reported local Chinese media. The management estimates this capacity, once up and running, will generate around RMB 3 billion ($424 million) in operating income per year. It says 90% of the plant production is expected to be suitable for monocrystalline material.
The company believes this expansion will help it further expand the scale of its production capacity and further improve production processes.
